Kate is a Norwich based acupuncture practitioner who believes in helping people to improve their quality of life. She believes in an integrated, cooperative and complementary healing approach to promote well-being by removing pain and discomfort and restoring vibrant health.
Before training as an acupuncturist, Kate spent several years studying yoga and meditation in India – exploring the synergistic effect of mind, body and spirit on our general health and well being. Understanding how a holistic approach could transform our quality of life from within – the next step was to understand how we could implement this in others.
She recognised that often in times of ill health, we need some external manipulation or catalyst to encourage our bodies back into balance. In Traditional Chinese Medicine she found a system that allowed her to treat problems at various levels of manifestation – whether physical, mental or emotional. Her personal interests lie with women’s health and treating musculo-skeletal complaints.
Acupuncture is an ancient medical art. Today in most western cultures it is considered a "new alternative" medicine. In reality Acupuncture (and its related Moxibustion) are practiced medical treatments that are over 5,000 years old. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which encompasses many different practices is rooted in the ancient philosophy of Taoism. Today TCM is practiced side by side with western medicine in many of China’s hospitals and clinics. In its long course of development, it has absorbed the quintessence of classical Chinese philosophy, culture and science, it is rich in theory and practical in treatment. Concept of holism and syndrome differentiation and treatment are the two basic characteristics of TCM in understanding human physiology and pathology as well as diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
Kate graduated from the London College of Traditional Acupuncture, studying acupuncture, electroacupuncture, Tui Na and Qi gong. She is fully registered with the British Acupuncture Council, thereby adhering to their strict hygiene standards and codes of conduct.
